WASHINGTON, DC, May 20, 2021 – U.S. Representative Kweisi Mfume today issued the following statement regarding the ceasefire announced in the Middle East.
"Today I join with concerned Marylanders and other members of the House and Senate in embracing the cease fire now underway in Gaza and Israel, in an effort to bring about an end to the killing of innocent children and civilians. However silence is not an option.
The U.S. must lead the way in humanitarian aid and working with both sides, must lay the blueprint for a fair and permanent two state solution that guarantees and protects the human rights of Palestinians and Israelis now and well into the future."
