WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Kweisi Mfume (MD-07) issued the following statement regarding his meeting, alongside fellow members of the House Oversight Committee, with survivors of abuse perpetrated by Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell:
"Earlier today, I spent 2.5 hours meeting with survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell's abuse." said Congressman Kweisi Mfume. "Most of the victims were exploited at 13, 14, and 15 years of age, deceived by promises of a college education, a job, or threats of harm to their family members," he continued.
"This is not only about the horrific actions of Epstein and Maxwell, but also about the wider network of individuals who enabled, concealed, and even profited from this exploitation. Such complicity is illegal, unconscionable, and must be exposed." stated Congressman Kweisi Mfume.
"Justice will be delivered – for those who testified today and for every person whose life has been scarred by this appalling nightmare. I stand with these survivors who I met with today and with the countless, hundreds of others." he concluded.
