Congressman Kweisi Mfume Statement Regarding the American Rescue Plan Housing Announcement in Baltimore City and Anniversary of Enactment of the American Rescue Plan

Baltimore, MD – Congressman Kweisi Mfume (MD-07) released the following statement regarding today’s American Rescue Plan Housing Announcement in Baltimore City and the one-year anniversary of passage of the American Rescue Plan.

“On the Anniversary of the passage of the American Rescue Plan, I reiterate: this legislation is a game-changer.  It attacks inequality and poverty in ways we haven’t seen in a generation.  A year later, we are still talking about the legislation and seeing its benefits here in the local government with state budget surpluses that empower the Maryland General Assembly to get work done,” said Congressman Kweisi Mfume.

“Congress, led by Democrats in the U.S. House, really saved this nation from either another Great Recession if not another Great Depression with the CARES Act, HEROES Act (which became a $908 billion coronavirus relief package), the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and THE AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN. As Mayor Scott highlighted today, our communities need urgent and substantive action, and we delivered with the American Rescue Plan,” Congressman Mfume added.

About the American Rescue Plan

The American Rescue Plan expands access to healthcare, significantly reduces child poverty, protects working families, gets vaccines in arms, gets kids in schools, keeps families in their homes, puts food on tables, and puts much-needed money in pockets.
