WASHINGTON– Congressman Kweisi Mfume of Maryland released the following statement after voting to pass H.R. 1280, the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act.
"Exactly 30 years after the brutal, horrific beating of Rodney King, the House passed the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act. There is no single policy that will erase the decades of systemic racism and excessive policing we've witnessed in our country, but this legislation is the first step to addressing these inequities at the federal level. Our Union will only be made more perfect when we can ensure the justice, tranquility, and welfare for all."
