
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Kweisi Mfume, U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen and Congressmen Steny H. Hoyer, Dutch Ruppersberger, John Sarbanes, Jamie Raskin, David Trone and Glenn Ivey (all D-Md.) today announced $34,824,846 in federal funding for Maryland public housing agencies.
The funding comes through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s FY 2023 Public Housing Capital Fund Formula Grant Awards. The awards were made available through the FY 2023 Consolidated Appropriations Act, which Congress approved in December 2022. Each award will be used to develop, finance and modernize public housing projects. Recipients include:

“Providing access to high-quality, affordable housing is critical in every community in our state. Having the assurance of a place to call home gives Maryland workers and families the ability to seek greater opportunity and prosperity,” said the lawmakers. “We will continue to work to deliver federal funds like these to make housing more affordable for all Marylanders.”
The Capital Fund provides annual formula-based grants to approximately 3,200 public housing agencies across the country for the development, financing and modernization of public housing developments and for management improvements.
