The Honorable Louis DeJoy
Postmaster General
United States Postal Service
475 L’Enfant Plaza, S.W., Room 10300
Washington, D.C. 20260-1000
Dear Postmaster DeJoy:
It recently came to my attention from very concerned constituents that the Fort Howard Post Office located at 9200 Howard Avenue, Fort Howard, Maryland 21052 is scheduled for closing.
The planned closure of this post office has raised many uncertainties from constituents who utilize it. Many of these constituents are older adults with restricted mobility or lack of access to public transit and may be tremendously impacted by this closure.
This letter requests an immediate update on the plan for mail delivery going forward. To the extent residents need to get mailboxes to prepare for home mail delivery, they need to know that. Again, many of the residents have limited mobility or limited access to transportation, so the option of moving their mail delivery to the Dundalk, Maryland Post Office located at 44 Shipping Place, Dundalk, Maryland 21222 does not sit well with them.
I look forward to your prompt response to this inquiry.
Sincerely,
###
