Congressman Mfume Statement on Avoiding Federal Government Shutdown

January 18, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congressman Kweisi Mfume (MD-07) issued the following statement regarding his vote to temporarily avoid a government shutdown, funding the federal government until early March 2024. This legislation will now be sent to President Joe Biden for his signature.

“I voted again, along with 206 other Democrats in the U.S. House, to avoid a government shutdown today. However, I continue to urge my Republican colleagues to spend more time governing and less time posturing so we can find a permanent fiscal solution. It is time to put People Over Politics," said Congressman Kweisi Mfume.
