Congressman Mfume Statement on Mass Shooting in Virginia

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Kweisi Mfume (MD-07) issued the following statement following the tragic mass shooting in Chesapeake, Virginia. 

"For too long, our nation has remained on edge because we all know it is just a matter of days or weeks before we hear about another horrific mass shooting, exemplified by the two back-to-back tragedies in Colorado and Virginia,” said Congressman Kweisi Mfume. “While our hearts and prayers of course go out to the affected families and communities, Congress must do more to end the carnage. It is a national emergency and a national disgrace."
