WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Kweisi Mfume (MD-07) issued the following statement regarding President Trump's threats to escalate his illegal war against Iran:
"We are more than 100 days into Trump's reckless war in Iran, and his latest claim of a peace deal cannot paper over the truth," said Congressman Kweisi Mfume. "this Administration has offered nothing but strikes, threats, and reversals, with no clear plan, no defined goal, and no strategy beyond the President's whims."
"Today, Trump threatened to seize Kharg Island, a dramatic escalation that would put more U.S. servicemembers and civilians in harm's way," he continued. "Every day that Senate Republicans fail to pass the House's War Powers Resolution is another day this Administration ignores the American people, sidesteps the law, and digs us deeper into another forever war."
