WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congressman Kweisi Mfume (MD-07) issued the following statement regarding his vote to avoid a government shutdown, temporarily funding the federal government until early 2024. This legislation will now be taken up by the United States Senate for consideration and if passed, sent to President Joe Biden for his signature.
“I voted again, along with 208 other Democrats in the U.S. House, to avoid a government shutdown today. The continuing resolution that provides for government funding is far from ideal but it fully funds the government until early next year. I urge my Republican colleagues to spend more time governing and less time posturing so that we can all responsibly go about conducting the People’s business,” said Congressman Kweisi Mfume (MD-07).
