January 10, 2022

BALTIMORE– Congressman Kweisi Mfume (MD-07) issued the following statement on the passing of Herman Williams, Jr.:

"Herman Williams, Jr. was the embodiment of public service in Baltimore City. He served in various capacities under 9 mayors for 47 years and he was the first African American fire chief in Baltimore. Herman was a trailblazer, a gentleman, and a friend. His example has made it possible for so many others to serve. Our prayers are with Montel and the entire Williams family.

We will always remember Herman's leadership and service. Rest In Peace."
