Two out of three final sites under consideration are located in Prince George’s County, Maryland – the only majority-Black jurisdiction proposed.
BALTIMORE, MD – Congressman Kweisi Mfume will speak and stand with Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, U.S. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen, Congressman Anthony Brown, and other Maryland local and state leaders at a press conference on Friday, November 4, to advocate for Prince George’s County, Maryland as the selection process for the new FBI headquarters continues. Prince George’s County is the only majority-Black jurisdiction under consideration.
Maryland leaders will stress that the criteria used for the past decade, including access to transit, security, cost, environmental impact, and equity considerations, are achieved at each of the two Prince George’s County sites in the final phase of federal consideration.

In August, Congressman Kweisi Mfume and other top Maryland leaders, including Congressman Anthony Brown, Speaker Adrienne A. Jones of the Maryland House of Delegates, and Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks led a letter urging President Biden to choose a Prince George’s County site for the new consolidated FBI headquarters on their merits and as part of the federal government’s broader equity and empowerment initiatives.
More recently, Congressman Mfume authored a strongly-worded October 20, 2022 Twitter statement, garnering more grassroots and grasstops attention to this issue and the need for the final location to be in Maryland.
