WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressmen Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05), Anthony Brown (MD-04), Dutch Ruppersberger (MD-02), John Sarbanes (MD-03), Kweisi Mfume (MD-07), Jamie B. Raskin (MD-08), and David Trone (MD-06) announced they secured $500 million toward a new, consolidated FBI headquarters in the Fiscal Year 2023 Financial Services & General Government Appropriations legislation.

Washington, DC – This week, the United States House of Representatives passed H.R. 7694, the Strengthening Subcontracting for Small Businesses Act of 2022, which is a bipartisan bill co-led by Congressmen Kweisi Mfume (D-MD) and Pete Stauber (R-MN). This measure originated in the U.S. House Committee on Small Business, where Congressman Mfume serves as Vice-Chair.

In a congressional hearing titled "The Urgent Need to Address the Gun Violence Epidemic," Congressman Kweisi Mfume spoke on gun violence today.

Gun violence victims from Uvalde, Texas and Buffalo testified alongside Mayor Eric Adams of New York City, the Buffalo Police Commissioner and various other experts on gun violence.

Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin and Congressmen Steny H. Hoyer, Dutch Ruppersberger, John Sarbanes, Kweisi Mfume, Anthony G. Brown, Jamie Raskin, and David Trone (all D-Md.) announced $3,783,406 in federal funding for colleges and universities across the state of Maryland to help underrepresented communities enter and complete higher education degree programs. The funds come from the U.S.

Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin and Congressmen Steny H. Hoyer, Dutch Ruppersberger, John Sarbanes, Kweisi Mfume, Anthony G. Brown, Jamie Raskin, and David Trone (all D-Md.) announced $7,050,429 to support AmeriCorps’ service and volunteerism efforts in communities across Maryland. These awards were funded by both the fiscal year 2022 Appropriations package and the American Rescue Plan which the lawmakers fought to pass.
