WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Kweisi Mfume (MD-07) proudly voted in favor of the Inflation Reduction Act, historic legislation focused on lowering the skyrocketing cost of health care and prescription drugs, making large corporations pay their fair share in taxes and tackling the climate crisis. The bill passed with a vote of 220 to 207 with no Republicans voting in favor of the legislation. It will now go to President Biden’s desk for his signature.

Raskin and David Trone (all Md.) today announced $6,938,832 in federal funding to promote public health and support infectious disease and medical research efforts in Maryland. This Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) funding will be directed to the Maryland Department of Health.

BALTIMORE – Yesterday, U.S. Representative Kweisi Mfume (MD-07) and U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce Don Graves announced a $22.9 million investment in Maryland to implement a new apprenticeship model that well help train local workers and connect them to employers providing good-paying jobs in the clean energy sector. This project will simultaneously help tackle the climate crisis by support the region’s growing offshore wind industry.
