The U.S. House of Representatives voted on bipartisan legislation to fund the federal government and deliver emergency aid so desperately needed by individuals, families, and small businesses across the country.
WASHINGTON--Today, the U.S. Senate passed the Henrietta Lacks Enhancing Cancer Research Act, H.R. 1966.
The bill, which aims to confront healthcare disparities by making cancer clinical trials more racially diverse, passed in the House just over one week ago. Congressman Kweisi Mfume, who represents Maryland's 7th District, is the lead sponsor on the bill.
Last week, the Henrietta Lacks Enhancing Cancer Research Act passed the House of Representatives. The bill, which was first introduced by the late Elijah Cummingsm in 2019, aims to increase African American participation in clinical trials and address racial health disparities.
